Dear Williams-Mystic Community,
I wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that Williams-Mystic is planning to operate an in-person Fall 2021 semester. The Williams-Mystic faculty and staff are actively planning for a safe and healthy in-person Fall ’21 semester with a full complement of students and activities. Williams College and Mystic Seaport Museum are working closely with us to create all the necessary safety protocols to ensure a healthy, safe, and joyful semester.
We feel it is essential to provide you with transparent and open communication about our upcoming semester this spring and summer. As you might suspect, right now there are many unknowns, but we look with great excitement to the ongoing rollout of vaccines, hoping for decreasing risks of community spread, and eventual lifting of travel restrictions. We are working with our field seminar partners to also plan for the appropriate types of experiences that will maintain the health of Williams-Mystic students, faculty, and staff as well as the people with whom we partner. Of course, we are in the midst of communicating and planning how to actualize these experiences, and we find it necessary to plan multiple semester scenarios. While we don’t anticipate that Fall ’21 will look exactly like previous semesters, our mindset is focused on doing what we need to do to create joyful, challenging, and transformational hands-on learning experience.
