How to Apply

This link will take you to the beginning of our application form. Once you fill out the first page, an account will be created in our system. You should automatically be taken to the rest of the application, but you will also receive a confirmation email with a link to reaccess the application at any point in time.

In 1-2 pages, describe what appeals to you most about Williams-Mystic, how the program would fit into your academic and career goals, and what qualities you would contribute to the program.

Your writing sample should be a copy of a writing assignment submitted for any class within the past two years. We encourage you to choose a sample that you believe best represents your general writing ability. Your writing sample should be 5 pages or fewer - it can be an excerpt from a longer piece of work.

You may submit an official or unofficial copy of your transcript. This should be the most up-to-date copy available, providing grades through the most recent semester you’ve completed.

One reference must be academic, and the second can come from either an academic or professional reference. Once you have added an individual's contact information to the reference section of your application, the system will send an automated email asking them to submit a paragraph or two (it does not need to be a full, formal letter) that attests to your academic skill, work ethic, and/or sense of community. Your academic references should be people who have worked with you in a classroom setting at the college level (faculty, TAs, advisors, etc.). A professional reference should be someone who has supervised you in a professional, volunteer, or community setting — i.e, NOT a peer, family member, or friend.

Students must complete the Home Institution Approval Form with a member of their Study Away Office. This helps ensure that you are approved for study away from your home institution. This form should be completed and returned to [email protected] prior to your interview.

Once you complete your online application, an admissions representative will contact you to arrange your interview. If you are able to travel to Mystic, we are also happy to interview you in person, though Zoom interviews are most common and perfectly acceptable.
