Arguing Bell vs. Town of Wells, ME

A federal judge, an attorney, and a class of WM students walk into a classroom...

All joking aside, S25 students argued a Moot Court case in early April before the Honorable Susan L. Carney, Senior Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Visiting Professor of Marine Policy Derek Langhauser F82.

After a week-long preparation crunch mentored by Katy Robinson Hall S84 and Bridget Delaney-Hall F17, replete with late nights in Carlton (and maybe some microwaveable meals), S25 students went head to head to argue Bell v. Town of Wells -- a landmark marine policy case about whether an act giving Mainers permission to recreate on a private beach was unconstitutional. The Moot Court event was followed by lunch, where WM students had the opportunity to speak with Judge Carney about her work on the Second Circuit court.

The government team won the case, but good sportsmanship and learning really won the day, as is the Williams-Mystic way!
