No. While Williams-Mystic students get a solid taste of what it feels like to be on a boat, from fishing vessels to small sail boats and other vessels, your home is a cooperative living house in the coastal village of Mystic, CT, located across the street from Mystic Seaport, the nation's largest maritime museum. You might even have class aboard the permanently docked Charles W. Morgan, a retired wooden whaling vessel at Mystic Seaport! While you'll travel on field seminars to explore some of our nation's coasts, you'll travel by plane, van and the occasional ferry.
No. We are an interdisciplinary program and welcome all majors. The more the merrier! Part of the goal of Williams-Mystic is looking at universal issues and experiences through different lenses and disciplines. A single-discipline approach won’t solve real issues.
Cooperative housing in Mystic, CT acts as your “home base” for the semester. Learn about residential life here. During three field seminars (each approximately a week long), you will stay in hotels arranged by Williams-Mystic.

While we have a rolling admissions process, we recommend getting started as soon as possible to save your spot. Generally, we recommend applying early on during before the semester you intend to attend.
Generally, students can transfer Williams-Mystic credits back to their home institution. Every school has different policies regarding how the credits apply to different requirements and whether GPA transfers to the home institution transcript.
Williams-Mystic is part of the 12 College Exchange, meaning credits for students at 12 College Exchange institutions will transfer seamlessly without much effort.
